1.15 Chapter 13~

I couldn't believe it. At first Richtofen was hunting me down now I had to hunt him? It seemed insane! How could a sixteen year old girl defeat a Nazi? Well I guess it's possible but not for me. I sighed and pressed against the wall. Nikolai and Takeo were looking around for the best spot to by-pass the zombies while me and Dempsey were resting. It felt weird to be alone with Dempsey. Although I found that I personally liked it. I wanted to get to know him better. For some reason it felt right to be here with him even though he wasn't in his best mood. He must have been in a bad mood because he had his pocket knife out and was sharpening it harshly with a rock. I could tell he wasn't in the mood to be spoken to but spoke to him anyways.

''Dempsey? Are you ok?'' I asked quietly watching him slice the rock on the knife.

''Yea, fine'' He responded not meeting my gaze. Great he was in a mood and I just made it worse. I suddenly felt annoyed with myself. Me talking to him wasn't helping. Suddenly I heard a yell and then Nikolai cursing. I jumped and turned towards Takeo and Nikolai just in time to see Nikolai grab Takeo by his shirt collar.

''Enough!'' I yelled leaving Dempsey's side and running to push Nikolai off, ''What's wrong with you?''

''Stupid Jap's, their a waste of time!'' Nikolai snarled past me into Takeo's face. I stepped between them.

''I said enough, now what's going on?'' I asked sternly staring at Nikolai my hands on my hips waiting for answers.

''He's being useless again! Gosh shouldn't we just feed him to the zombies already?'' Nikolai half shouted half growled. I rolled my eyes.

''No because that would be murdering, but of course you wouldn't care would you Nik?'' I said giving Nikolai a smart smile. Obviously Nikolai didn't like my actions. He stepped threateningly closer to me with a fierce glare. I wanted to back away but couldn't. I've never seen someone so evil before, not even Richtofen.

''Hey!'' Dempsey yelled jogging towards us and stepping between me and Nikolai, ''Step back or I'll make you!'' He threatened.

I was shocked. Dempsey was standing up for me? Why did this surprise me? I still found myself full of joy for the fact. I wasn't sure why.

''Whatever..'' Nikolai glared at me and turned away.

''Takeo? That happen?'' I asked turning around.

''We were deciding the best way to pass the zombies unseen and we got in a argument, nothing much'' Takeo responded. I nodded slowly and sighed. If we didn't get along we'd never get out of here alive that was for sure. I closed my eyes and let my mind overtake me just for a second. Maybe I'll have sweet dreams, or maybe horrifying ones. To me at the moment it didn't really matter. All I wanted was to sleep peacefully, without fear. But I knew that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. I opened my eyes and spun around as if alarmed. I was alarmed. I wasn't quite sure why I was so alarmed but I felt my hands shaking and my legs were about to collapse. I could feel my body growing colder by the minute.

Dempsey must have noticed me reacting this way because he spun around and grabbed my arms, ''Elena! What's wrong?''

I ignored him. All I could see was a bright cheerful sky when it wasn't really there. It seemed so faint and so far away. I could hear kids screaming in horror as they ran from the infected. I felt shivers run down my back and through my veins. Ice cold shivers. I couldn't see the kids but I could feel their pain. The pain of being bitten by one of the infected took a strike at my arm. I flinched slightly but continued to listen, Dempsey hands still firmly grasped on my arms. I could hear whispers in my head and couldn't make them out. Finally I snapped out of my gaze and went back into the real world. I was gasping for breath struggling to balance myself.

''What happened?!'' Dempsey asked looking me in the eye with concern. I didn't respond at first but did after catching my breath.

''I heard kids, and whispers, they both sounded like they were calling for help!'' I gasped. Why was I having these visions? I knew one thing though……it had something to do with Samantha.

''Could you make out who the voices belonged to?'' Takeo asked. He seemed just as concerned.

''yes, one of them were Samantha's that's all I know!'' I said trying to keep from yelling. I felt like I was being asked to many questions.

''Ok sorry for asking then…'' Takeo said looking at his feet. I suddenly felt sorry for being so harsh.

''Sorry Takeo, I really am…..i'm just scared'' I said smiling at him trying not to show how scared I really was. Takeo looked up at me and smiled.

''I know your pain, I do….'' Takeo responded lifting his chin.

''We need to get out of her!'' Nikolai yelled as gunfire pierced the air. Dempsey spun around and pulled out his pistol and letting go of me, ''Run! Inside a building! Somewhere!''

I ran for the nearest building and slammed into the door. I could hear the groans of the zombies getting nearer as I tried to pry open the door. Finally it budged slightly and sent me hurling inside. Takeo was second inside followed by Nikolai and Dempsey. I slammed the door shut and pressed against it the zombies groaning just outside. Nikolai ran to my side and pressed his whole body weight on the door.

''Someone find something to block this door!'' Nikolai yelled grunting as he pressed on the door harder. I did the same thing feeling pressure on my legs and arms as they pushed with all their effort. I felt tears of annoyance and pressure stream down my face as the door presses against us. Just when I first felt my right foot slip Dempsey called for us to move. I jumped out of the way and helped drag a bookshelf to the door. Once it was in place we all took a step back waiting and listening. I could hear the terrifying moans coming just outside that door. I could also hear wood breaking. I jumped back at the first sound of a crack my heart started pounding hard in my chest. These monsters were getting in with us having no way out. I couldn't help thinking that if these things got in…I would have to use the element to save us all.
